Tonight i saw a video on Le Iene, a popular italian show where many bed and breakfast in Rome are not respecting rules and we are a little bit afraid about it. It looks like really easy to open a bed and breakfast in Rome and statistics show that last year b&b in Rome are going to be double (2006: 900 b&b in Rome, 2007:1450 b&b in Rome).
This not means aren’t cool b&b, sometimes looks like hotels with LCD flat TV, Wi FI and wonderful interior design, but basicly aren’t “regular” bed and breakfast.
We remember basic rules to respect to be a really and official Bed and breakfast
- B&B must have at max 3 rental rooms accommodation for 9/10
- The owner have to live in the apartment in rent (must be owner’s home)
- Every b&b must be closed at least 3 month
In this video an actor was searching on Google and the video shows her during request, she went in some b&b in rome found on firsts results page and with hidden camera asking to owners some questions like:
Hi we are twelve people looking for accommodation in rome, it’s possible there?
“Yes sure! we have 32 rooms!!! (a b&b??!!)”You are open all year?
“Suuuuure! Why should we have to close our b&b?”
What does it means for a tourist?
Sometimes can be better than a b&b, sometimes looks like hotel and you don’t have the sensation to share a really Home but, they are not b&b “officially”
